I first saw Rhys Ellis’s work at GFW16. Having shot his final collection on the runway we stayed in touch and it was great to hear from Rhys that just a year later (pretty inspiring achievement there) that he was debuting at LFW with a presentation in collaboration with Oliver Thomas Lipp.  As my heart belongs more and more to documenting the these fashion events I was keen to get behind the scenes and photograph the show preparation. I feel this way I can show the story of the presentation, the energy and atmosphere which goes in to creating an event like this. 

This fashion event work I’m making is building into a body of work which currently has the working title ‘Documenting Fashion’. Fashion should not be seen for one season only and neither should the visual work created from it and so I believe it’s important to allow this work to sit in a space of it’s own. It should exist beyond a hard drive or a folder of negatives. I’m approaching this as a longterm project which may last years…
